About My Experience

I'm Krista, the founder of Krista's Cups.

People often ask me if I use the pStyle and The DivaCup® and the answer is absolutely! I can't imagine life without them. I put a lot of effort into promoting them because I believe they can have a positive revolutionary effect - not just on an individual but on our society. I look forward to a day when tampon companies close up shop and when something as essential as peeing is easy and safe for everyone. Read on for my personal testimonials.

The pStyle

I have lived rurally and done all kinds of outdoor activities for most of my adult life and I never had a problem with squatting to pee. I did have issues with dripping - jumping around and using leaves never worked as well as I wanted them to. Then there was also the issue of other people and whether or not it was O.K. to drop my pants around them. Staying away from poison ivy, brambles, and chiggers was just a fact of life – and as for having an outfit that was hard to pee in, I tried to avoid it. I was introduced to the pStyle at a party by some friends who had gotten one in Europe. They thought I would love it and encouraged me to try it out. I remember standing there thinking "Now I'm going to pee all over myself." Amazingly I didn't, and when I used the pStyle to wipe away the last drips I was totally sold. It's faster, cleaner, and you don't have to worry about who sees you. I've used it in cities, in my garden, at festivals, in cold weather, on a road trip, at home, in the woods, on carpentry jobs, on bridges - everywhere really. I don't leave the house without it.

Menstrual Cups

I got my first menstrual cup in 1994 when I was having a hard time finding a menstrual product that would work for me. Tampons gave me a cramping feeling in my stomach when I wore them. I think this was due to the way they dried me out and irritated my skin. I used them when I had to for my job as a lifeguard, but the combination of the discomfort I felt along with the warnings about Toxic Shock Syndrome made me very unhappy about it. Unfortunately I also hated wearing pads. They were uncomfortable in a different way, messy and bulky. At that time I had been dealing with my period for about four years and I remember feeling despondent when I thought about how many more times I would have to go through the ordeal. Luckily for me I had a friend who knew about menstrual cups and told me how great they were. It seemed like I had nothing to lose and everything to gain so I sent away for one. I was very excited about the possibility of a better way to deal with my period. The first time I tried to use it was challenging since I wasn't all that familiar with my vagina. I really wanted it to work for me so I persisted and eventually learned to insert and remove the cup with ease. It was so amazing because I couldn't feel it when it was in- there was no TSS to worry about and no trash. Learning how to use it gave me practical knowledge about my body and helped dispel the shame I felt about my period. I felt connected to my monthly cycle and even positive about it. Suddenly it seemed like a deep travesty to me that other people didn't know about menstrual cups. I became infused with a need to tell anyone who would listen about this most fabulous of inventions. Many years later I'm still at it..."
